BIO
Rae Cassidy is an LA based singer/songwriter and producer. Having been recording since she was 13 years old, she’s spent her life composing and producing music, collaborating and touring with others, and honing her unique sound and production style. She has toured the US & EU multiple times, singing solo and alongside other acts such as San Fermin and Copeland. Her solo project is a vocally acrobatic, genre-bending and haunting dark/dream pop strongly influenced by the vocal stylings of 1940’s crooners and with lyrics that are emotionally engaging, ethereal melodies and a focus on unique vocal arrangements. After all her years of experience in the industry and gaining a dedicated following, her debut album will be her first release but one that has a lifetime of heart behind it.
Performing solo and with other acts, Rae Cassidy has opened for artists such as Villagers, Mason Jennings, The Roots, Phantogram, Copeland, The Joy Formidable, Son Lux, Monica Martin and more – in addition to achieving a plethora of mentions from publications including NPR, New York Times, Fuse, The A.V. Club and NME. As lead singer of San Fermin, Cassidy performed on radio stations including BBC 1, KEXP, SiriusXMU, and WFUV – and filmed for many live video sessions such as La Blogotheque, World Cafe Live, NPR Tiny Desk Concert, and Audiotree.
Growing up in venues and surrounded by music, Rae Cassidy started early with the support of her musician parents. She began her career producing lush, ethereal vocal arrangements at the age of 13, picking up instruments along the way. She quickly gained online attention and was sought out for collaborations with bands such as Copeland, Night Beds and more. Through high school, she became known for her live performances, acoustic and with other local bands, while gaining acknowledgement across the internet for her online presence as an audio-engineer and producer of experimental freak-folk. Cassidy would occasionally release singles for her online followers to stream, while maintaining her presence as an ambassador for female performers in Milwaukee. She performed locally full-time and as a cameo with groups ranging from jazz to hip-hop before moving to Brooklyn at age 21. Shortly after moving, San Fermin found Rae Cassidy’s music online and contacted her to be their lead vocalist. She then toured with them for the next year across the U.S. as well as throughout EU/UK and Canada for a continually sold out tour. Rae Cassidy is now focusing entirely on her solo craft and has since toured and performed alongside Copeland as well as collaborated with other musicians. She has spent these years creating in her studio and battling many health issues but is now focusing on the music is ready to release her debut album to the world.
